One issue semi-solved and another one, even bigger, appears. By first issue I mean the spam that's been flooding our folders for some time now. I don't know, it might my local problem, but I doubt it.
Here is what I saw when followed the usual log in link (http://www.esnips.com/HomeAction.ns)
I reckon those spammers got pissed that their spam bots stopped working as efficient as they used to and did this.
Tell me if I'm the only one having this shit screen. BTW I can see the eSnips footer if I scroll down so this shit screen puts itself just over the whole eSnips page.
This is not fun anymore...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE : ok I wasn't paying attention, just red the post below mine by Ian, but it only proves that it's not my local problem.

You're not the only one, a couple of moderators were having the same problem last night, and I saw it for myself this morning. We're working on it now.

it's been ages since i logged in, only to find THIS "masterpiece" overlapping my profile page!! seems like one of those things that go away when you deactivate inline-frames ... anyway, I had to delete those four spam-messages and then it was gone.
will be back soon to delete another bunch of ghastly spam!

leave us a link to one or two of your spammed files.
you should not need to delete the spam messages by yourself right now.
admin found a way to remove those retroactively.
saves you a lot of time.

this time it was no file but one of my folders that was spammed. this seems to be an entirely different kind of spammer than the one we had so much fun with this year...
sorry I don't know the username of the spammer, but chances are it's the same one that spammed retro. but in any case I will "treasure" the screenshot!!!

well, that whois function is a pretty nifty tool, eh? Problem is my IP is dynamic, which means I get a new IP from my provider each time I reconnect my modem. Right now I have no problem with the spammiest of the spammers, because after I deleted those messages in question the "misleading" overlay-spam disappeared. I don't get a lot of those anyway. I heard of others who get 50 a week or more. I seem to get 10 a month at most. Plus, I kind of enjoy the tiny adrenaline rush I get when deleting spam.
PS: Ok, I'm going to check my email now (i have too many email adresses for my own good btw). I did get that email about a month ago or so about the beta version of that recording programme (which seems to be quite good by the looks of it). A belated thank you for thaT!
I did get to download it but I had no time to try it out, but will do so very soonish!

You are a funny guy, Flux,
bot don't bother coz the trial version of Record is expired now and it does not work anymore.
Though I managed to create as much samples ahead as possible and used it in my most recent work.
I do miss Record already because it featured a nice piano.
And choir.
Do you have any idea where I can get a digital virtual piano for that purpose, like the Minimogue?
I haven't find one yet or otherwise it is offered by a dubious site which brings spyware with it as well.
thanks for your help in advance.
P.

Oh, OK now, comments has been disabled, the "shit screen" is gone. But my esnips home page was loading blank saying only "Welcome to your eSnips account", but I've just cleaned the cache and cookies and it's back to normal for now
Hopefully things will get stabilised soon.
And continuing your offtopic about the record, you might be interested in Reaper - great DAW and it's almost free( after 30 days you will have to wait for 5 sec. on start up, considering buying it). It's very light - installer is less than 4 MB. Not too much stuff build in, but you will find EQs, Compressors and all the other basic effects. No instruments though. I use it all the time now and loving it

Yes, it is quite obvious, no comments = no spam. I just hope eSnips team will perform a major maintenance and fix most of the problems ASAP.
But somehow I have a feeling that all these problems are symptoms of something more drastic that is going on with eSnips, it's like a fungous growing on something rotten

Somewhere I read that CAPTCHAs won't be implemented till december. Apparently there has been a change of plans. Because we can't go three months without comments, now can we?
Even if Esnips wasn't hijacked or hacked, this thread definitely was. Let's tie up some loose ends then:

Yeah, you're right. But while it's true that the beta version trial period is over, now there is a fully featured demo version available. The only difference between the full version and the demo is that in the demo you cannot save your projects. That means, of course, that you need to finish your track in one go. Everybody knows I like challenges! And this is why I think this demo version is probably better suited for me than the full product. I'm in the absolute minority here, of course. This company would not make a single dollar if everyone would think like me. I'm a funny guy, after all.
Yesterday I saw a video in which the chief developer presented Record to a small audience. Their collective jaws dropped when he showed them the real-time stretching feature. No stretching artifacts there - unbelievable...

The plugin Retro recommended is one of the best you can get for free. I used that too a while ago in some track and I remember that it sounded very fully & natural. But then again, my VST folder is already far too big for my own good and there are many other piano plugs that would do the job as well and as good.
And I second Retros Reaper-recommendation, too. I use it since fall 2008 and it's among the best all-in-one solutions you can get for free. With it you can also load up VST plugs like the above mentioned piano. Only thing that's missing is a graphical way to display the plugs and how they are connected with each other like in Psycle or Bidule. Unlike Plogue Bidule, with Reaper only normal linear connecting is possible.
