Traveling these old English roads, one must be very careful, especially at night
All of us within the carriage just holding our breath, until we reach the next inn
Highwaymen, all along the way, other evil in the night, we always make sure we have a light
All of us on edge, because of what lies in the darkness, something to be considered an awful sin.

The night outside, the fog so thick, you couldn't even see your hand, if you held it out
Traveling along this awful road, causing us all to bob up and down
Praying and hoping the carriage, is on the correct route
In this bleak fog and darkness, the chatter of the creature of the night, the only sound.

Every now and then through the fog, we see the moon, as it tries to peep through
When it does, through the fog, it;s dim illuminating light
Makes tress and things look completely different, than the way they are supposed to be viewed
Knowing of things supernatural, things we wish not to have to fight.

Things like ghosts, witches, banshees, just to name a few
So we are all on our utmost guard, against these things straight from the devil's lair
If we met anything like that, well our choices would be very few
Riding along looking at the carriage windows, we can't help but to stare.

The farther along we go, fear starts to creep up my spine
I just can't shake this ominous, horrific, feeling there is evil in the air
But with evil, none of us wish to dine
So begone, things associated with the devil's lair.

Soon we feel the carriage come to an abrupt stop
Within the darkness, within our cab, we start to wonder as to why
Something is out there, something we wish not to adopt
We hear the sounds of a howling dog, the sign that someone is about to die.
