Although federal rights have make a crime to remove DRM protection, we still can find a legal way to free from DRM protection. Let's take converter TuneCab as an example. It could record video or audio files when they are played and generate to unprotected mp3, mp4, wma formats etc. Actually, it only makes an unprotected copy for DRM protected file. But that works and isn't illegal.

I don't know if it is legal, but it's very helpful indeed.

Hello friends, I have a lot of wma files in my Xp computer and when I try to play or convert to mp3 it says it is DRM protected. I tried my level best to convert to mp3 but can't. Software used: TuneBite, SoundTaxi, Daniusoft, Fariuse4wm, Switch, demon tools, DBpower etc but something is not working . These files were in computer with an earlier windows and was playing well. These files are not downloaded by cd ripped. When I change the operating sistem to xp and copied to xp this drm protection start appearing and I can't even play. I tried most of the tips found in different forums, in vain. Could anyone be able to help me with this? Thanks in advance to all my cyber friends.

Try this free version it works for me every time all the ones you have named are only trial software and rarely do the job other than to get you to buy the full version

Thanks friends for all the advices. I tried all the softwares daniusoft, tunecab, switch. But the moment I load the track it says DRM protected. Precisely that's the reason I use this software and it is says drm protected can not be played nor converted. I appreciate you comments on this matter with your future investigations.

Have you got these on your PC or still on disc

I have the songs on my PC (OS: Xp SP2), these songs have been ripped from cds in an operating system windows ME where I could play these with windows media player. If you want to try I can upload a few tracks on a server.

sjoegabi...I am having the same problem. I ripped CDs onto media player and want to convert them from WMA to MP3. But like you said i keep getting protection notices or trial programs.

I tried switch. It still tells me that my files are protected and canot be converted. I found some programs that will convert my WMAs to MP3s but since it is a trial version it will only let me download up to 3 minutes of the song. Are these programs that i HAVE TO buy or does anyone know one that is free AND works?
