Esnips is a good site. I've made many friends who are great people, the amount of free space is brilliant. But I am not happy with how I've been treated by the staff of Esnips.

I've tried to be friendly to Lonnie, taking an interest in her folders, written comments, even added her to my friends list etc.... but she hasn't done the same for me, instead has been friendly to many others on the site bar me and won't show any sort of interest in me unless I write to her and even then it feels more out of feeling obligated too rather than being friendly. I was one of the last to be informed about the karaoke beach party which made me feel even more discluded from the communtiy especially since I have been an active karaoke singer on this site since May 2006. I noticed that you can have a t-shirt sent to you if you write to Lonnie and give her your address, weeks have passed and I haven't been contacted about it in any way. I've applied to see the new social page that is on our profile page twice and have not been contacted. I realise the Esnips team are busy but I'm really started to feel left out and ignored by the team. I don't see this as a positive or professional way to dealing with people. Not sure if anyone else has felt like this? Well, after reading a few of the comments in this forum, it seems I am the only one who has felt this way, hmmm.... think that is making me feel worse.

That's my thoughts on Esnips.

I think that e-snips should go back to allowing people to download mp3s that people put up. It would be nice and that is rude of Lonnie she doesn't seem like a very mice person to you. Did you do anything wrong or something that might offend her?

No not to my knowledge. I just don't think she's that interested in my things I upload or me as a person. I've never been rude to her, have had a few questions I've needed to ask her but she's never minded about that. Oh well, guess ya can't be liked by everyone.

I have such experience before though its not a file sharing site but a gaming forums. I don't wish to spoil the reputation of that game; I won't be saying names. The staff of that game puts their local players as top priority. Other players from various other countries is obviously downright ignored by the staffs. Most of us complaint in the forums, but without avail. The threads gets pushed back by spams from their local players, sometimes even getting smacked on with replies such as "cease your whining and just enjoy the game" by other regular local players or "favoured*" local players.

*Favoured players would mean the players that has a good reputation with the GMs and staffs of that game.

The first thing most people would do is file a complain to the higher ups, like the developers. Yes, you've guessed it: some of the ignored players tried, but nevertheless. The staffs still reeks of corruption.

The second thing others would do is quit the game, spread bad name about the game and then blackmail it. But I did the alternative, I just continued to play and enjoyed the game with my friends and etc, ignoring any other strangers within the game and as well as the staffs.

I've quitted the game already though, since the rest of my friends gave up on the biased game.

So what am I trying to say here with those aimless babbling? Simple, try not to take it too personal, it's hard trying to get intimate with new friends but accept it. It's not like you can make friend with the whole world and It's not like you can choose your friends too. Even if you do choose, do they want you as a friend too?

Thats just my own thoughts and experience. Everyone may have a different view on things and has different decisions to overcome certain things.

Finally, I'm not ashamed to admit this: because of my happy go lucky kind of attitude in my secondary school days, I was pretty much ignored thoroughly for four years during then. To bluntly put it, I'm so used to being ignored that once someone ignores me, it has completely no effect on me.

I hope that "rude" wasn't directed to Lonnie. It's jumping to conclusions. If it wasn't then I'm sorry for making such accusations.

Let's first hear Lonnie's side of story.

Um...reality check?

How many people would go to a club, sing karaoke (or read at open mic night), and expect personal attention from the manager? Might be nice, but it's not going to happen every time to everyone. They try to make it a fun place for you to play - to show off your work (you know, give friends your eSnips URL and say "Hey, look what I've done here!") - but it's a business for them. Lonnie works for the company. She's been very friendly and involved, in my experience. Having had a job much like hers, about (oh, I feel old now) 13 years ago, I can tell you there is NO WAY to have a personal relationship with every member of a site like this. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

I've also been a GM and game developer. And a moderator on several sites. If you jump up and down and say "Hey, look at me!" it's a sure bet...they won't. Just like in real life, people are more often drawn to people who don't seem to need or crave so much attention.

I love how Hamster Lover put it:

...because of my happy go lucky kind of attitude in my secondary school days, I was pretty much ignored thoroughly for four years during then. To bluntly put it, I'm so used to being ignored that once someone ignores me, it has completely no effect on me.

Ever consider that maybe you were lucky to be ignored during those years? There's a lot to be said for having a happy go lucky attitude and not caring whether you're ignored. It's a pretty sure bet you won't be, though, if that's really true. ;)

When I was ignored, I didn't feel lucky, there was just no change in me.
Lets put it in a more complete way: No matter what insults, teases, bad actions or anything that supposed to hurt the party has no effect on me.
For a normal person to be ignored, s/he might boil up in the inside or do the same. I was totally carefree, I state my mind without thinking, I take all kinds of risk and end up with a laugh. Every minute and second was like wanting to have fun. But that lasted only first half of my first year in my secondary school days. Heck, I made friends(minimal) and enemies(majority) because of that

Then, after my first half year holidays ended, my friends were influenced by my enemies, thats when I was ignored by 99/1 of the people in the same class as I am. Only two person in the class remained as my friends. I advised them to stay away from me though, since class bullies enjoys bullying tiny sized students if they mix with someone they hate but can't touch.

If you jump up and down and say "Hey, look at me!" it's a sure bet...they won't

^
Actually, not like that. What I meant was our suggestions, our questions and our needs are all ignored. We ask nicely, we waited patiently for replies but only to realise that the staffs have bypassed our threads on purpose. Not only forums but in-game events as well.

By "lucky," I meant that it's generally better to be ignored than picked on by bullies and mean kids.

And in the game...you sure you never said, "How do I get to be a GM?" or "Hey, you should [fill in fantastic but technically implausible demand of the developers]"?

Depends on the game. In my experience, some run the business as a business; others are in it for some kind of power trip. Which is silly, because what kind of power do you have, really, when you can whip yourself up an invincible weapon to kill the nearly invincible critter you created, or ... eh, you know what I mean. It's not like you get to run a real COUNTRY or something.

So what's your secret to being untouchably happy go lucky throughout secondary school? I'd like to pass it on to my son.
