no my point was why the heck should someone who's been a member for a few hours try and dictate how a site should be run and because its not to their liking they think they can dish out abuse, go check and i bet ya half the people throwing it out in this thread have been a member for next to no time, no sharing or add nothing to the site...in my language we call them freeloaders not artists! .. we should hand these members free dummies or soothers as they walk through the door...cause you can tell them till your blue in the face original artists material is copyrighted and not allowed BUT should they wish to share their OWN works then just upload the file then go into edit and click the share for download button .. its dead simple! there really is no reason why they should be getting on their high horses and showing the amount of anger and abuse.

Where's ma bloody fluffies!

I AGREEEEEEEE

I must agree (for a part) with the person above me. It's true that some people just join to download songs. But I really hate the fact that some of the old members, before the new audio policy that is, never activate the download button. And 'some' is just an understatement... So I think that this new audio policy is just crap and we should go back to the old policy, if there ever was one to begin with

They Joined the site for a number of probable reasons...
The cache pages show (as they still do) download.

The vast majority of users that Joined esnips, joined on that ethos/basis.

That's not correct, they provided valued information when joining and the verification process achieves/activates this. The majority of people usually revisit a site in which they have been satisfied. If you rewind back then - the argument in that respect is flawed, because any one could join and download. onnus on the existing user is affected not the new user

No, they are people that have visited the site through search engine results, recomendations, friends and general advertising. They came on a basis of Free Hosting and default downlaoding as set default - if you were to become a member, no problem with the change but it alters the default position.

Hmmm, gonna throw one at ya here denise.. The MULTI - BILLION Record Industry convenientley missed out on the whole Internet revolution - GET REAL! LMFAO!

They are behind it, AOL, TIME WARNER are all major examples. The marketing reports STILL available to the public, share holders and alike identified consumer trends - They elected to ignore this and manipulated the market by price fixing on the pre tense that consumers would ignore music and alike on the internet, hence all the successful law suits!

On the variation of Music liscences alone - you can not possibly globalise it. if you were to set a far east web site up - copyright prosecution is 4-5 years away from even been contemplated.

Yes there is, they have spent the time finding the site, registering with hope and then finding dissapointment.

Changin the default position - not an issue. Allow what was already downloadable as default - problem?

I wholeheartedly agree with you 100%! Instead of going through all of the music and enabling the downloading button for each song seperately, they should redesign the downloading page and place an option that says, "enable downloading for all songs," then place a check in the box to download all songs at once. Then they should add an option to select the music that is private and will be unavailable for downloading.

.....So you're saying everyone here doesn't make their own music?

There have been uploaded music, that belongs to others, and are copyrighted, but this is not why esnips is here. IF you read the FAQ, all answers are there. As a matter of fact, even as I write this, all files are being scanned, and copyrighted material is removed.

In other words, this is a place for original music, created by esnips users, and YES, it is up to the artist to allow or not allow downloading of his song!
