let's set a website up and allow uploading and downloading...
lets not have any filters or any of that stuff...
now were reasonably big, lets introduce a social dna....
let's work on that as a main feature and restrict the upload and download.
If the copyright were an issue the website would have initiated it with the correct controls.
They used the same blue print as mysapce - which is declining - quite fast.
Social DNA sites are facebook etc..
"Q" now allows downloading of over 25 million tracks Free, and they are introducing the same concept on storage as esnips.
Download button my arse!

So could you elaborate on "Q"? Name of website... link? Just morbidly curious.
As I've stated before... this Audible Magic Corporation, is making links with as many file sharing companies as they can link with. This isn't to say that ALL of them will happily say..oh sure, let's all join up and save ourselves from the rich music industry. But, there are already a number of the bigger sites who've already linked up with them. Youtube, Myspace, etc. I suspect more will be pressured to join.... sad as it may be.
I'm a poor broke slob. I don't HATE people for placing copyrighted material on the web. But, it's gonna make it harder on all of us over time.
I'd love to check out "Q", if you'd be so kind... since a google search turned up nothing worth reading.
At first I was thinking "Q" was that pesky feller who bugged the daylights out of Captain Whatshisface on Star Trek. Heh heh... we have a few "Q" imitaters here already. Thankfully they don't have his magical powers...just his achey breakey mouth.

Unless you are an underground fan, you never hear artists like that on the radio. In reality, people have been brainwashed into thinking that what they hear on the radio is hip-hop. It falls terribly short of hip-hop, and may not be worthy of being called rap. Since 1995, we have seen a trend in the implementation of R&B into hip-hop music. The problem with that is it has dilluted the music. Commercial artists like Jay Z, for example, know that the dough will roll in if Blackstreet does the hook for one of his tracks that he, as stated earlier, only writes a couple versus to. Money now controls hip-hop instead of the artists controlling it, and label execs have become more powerful in determining how an artist’s music will sound. This explains the increase in the number of independent labels because artists have discovered that they lose creative control over their music when they sign on with major labels.

Partly as a response to your requests, and partly because some signed artists have opened eSnips profiles and asked to prevent downloads of their work, weve decided to give you more control as to who gets to download your audio files. Our new audio-only tool allows you to determine, for each file, if it can be downloaded or only listened to from the site.
Up to now, audio files could be downloaded only when you were signed in. As of now, users who upload or already have a MP3 or WMA audio file in their folders can decide if it can be downloaded or not.
By default, files are not available for download.
We've been getting a significant number of requests to change the default back to what it was and are considering doing so.

I can tell you that the download button will come back has default now here's the but.
the owners of the files will still have the option to disable them so the choice will be that of members it will still be a matter of weeks yet but it will happen

first of all i wanna say that i was a big fan of esnips, coz i always found whatever i wanted here..
now removing the download button doesnt sound like the best idea, though i completely understand this action taken by esnips and how it is protecting copy rights.
but i still want the download button back..if thats possible.
i agree with u except for one point :
" 5) Existing users have the option to allow NON-download when uploading new files. "
it should be an open sharing site..
u dont want us to use ur stuff..dont upload it, that simple
