I've tried and tried and I find few original animations among the top members of the "community".
So I go visit some of the featured animations and their folders, and I really don't know what kind of comment to leave.. "Great stuff somebody else did, way to collect someone else's stuff dude. I am soooo impressed. You get all the credit. WTG!! Man, you sure can download and repost! And there is NEVER any credit as to what site the stuff was downloaded from. Arrrrgh, Ahoy Pirates!" About the only scale one can use is the degree of graphic piracy.
I mean, if I want hits on my site, I have to go and leave comments on others' sites. And who wants my downbeat message? Should I just cut and paste a"Oh, this site is so nice, Thank you and jesus bless you" or some mindless crap like that, just to get comments? .... grrrrr
IF eSnips took the same measures with graphics that they did with music.... LOLOLOLOLOL... Guess we don't count as much as the musicians.. or have the bucks to effect OUR integrity.

Hi Tiger
Well with regards to the animations that have been featured since I became the moderator of the Animation Community...
I've just been and checked..which,of course, I knew anyway.
They are All original Animations owned, as far as I can see,by the people who have uploaded them to their folders. I do check all new files out and feature only original animations.
Yes I agree that there is a lot of uploading of files taken directly from the net but this is happening in all the communities and not just on esnips.
As far as I am aware,I have not featured them.
Infact,in my opinion, there aren't enough people uploading original animation files so I often struggle to feature anything new.
I originally was featuring a different animation every night, except Saturday. But if there is nothing new I go through the favourites pages and will try to feature an animation from there.
If I can't find anything I'll leave the features for another night or so to get more views.
As for the top members of the community. I also wonder why many users are there. I'll make enquiries about how users are rated.
Yes..if you want hits to your folders you do need to visit other people's folders. But it doesn't have to be members of the animation community that you visit. There are lots of talented people on esnips. I'm seeing a lot of new talent in Graphic Design.
As for esnips taking the same measures with graphics as with music..copyright protection is very complex in all areas of art, especially graphics.
We all count Tiger. Everyone is entitled to the same copyright protection for material that belongs to them. I think it's just harder to enforce with regards to graphics than with music.
Feel free to air you views anytime Tiger ..I'll try to represent them, and anyone elses, the best I can to admin.
p.s...I thought you were apethetic about esnips.lol

Dear Karen,
"Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law."
I'm fine physically, sorta, but better than I'd thought I'd be at this stage, Thanks.
Girl! You are on the ball! I think I need not do any more whining. My inability to get (my) original works to show in competition with "shared downloads" of non-original and often copy-righted stuff is the source of my eAngst (fbakht44 is an example), and now you and the staff see it, and are on it.
Consider the difference between animaTORS and animation and anime, and not being able to be in any of them simultaniously. That is not to say that within the animaTORS community, there may be those who style is anime. Haveing an animaTORS community here, with all the features of the other communities might fix it, same for music/musicians/DJs PICK ONE ONLY. eSnips is so Open (a good thing) that the distinction is uneven between a world class animator and a kid in Kuala Lampur with a zillion cartoon characters and so controls several of a communities' features. With just a couple exclusive communities, one could look for Artists and Musicians and Composers, Poets, Reanimators (like yourself) as opposed to animation, Graphic Design and the generic music tags. TahDah!
I need not be the Socratic gadfly under your effective moderation. I'll stick a bung in'it shipmate. As for adding you to my "friends". I would not wish that curse on you. You'd be outta'a job and change your name within 2 weeks, like YH and Gone did in the last couple months! LOLOLOL and then I'd have to whine all over again.... hmmm? ...cut and paste and save these rants for the enevitable?? LOLOL witness my apathy, imagine my passion.

....and then animaTORS with their latest work can be featured in the animation community banner, like advertising. with a different priority than latest scan uploaded from my comic book collection. Perhaps the next step from eSnips Beta will be eSnips Pro.
Hey Karen, can you get a straight answer about the eSnips coffee table book and reserving a copy or 2 before all the staff scarf them up?

Well I'm pleased you feel better than you thought you would Tiger.
If you,or anyone else, have a problem or concern about anything on eSnips, then you're entitled to have a whine and bring it to their attention via the Moderators.(In this case..me)
I do understand where you're coming from and do keep an eye on the uploads to the Animation Community.
The uploads can be very slow and, like I've said already,I struggle to feature as often I first planned.
I know and understand the source of your angst. I notice things too.
Your idea about sub-catagorising the communities in theory sounds great.
Maybe it's something eSnips could consider in the near future.
But for now, we'll just have to work with what we have.
So we have: The Animation Community..which covers quite a wide spectrum of different types of animation.
I'll continue to keep looking for and featuring original files(as far as I can tell)created by the person who has uploaded them.
Tiger..If you have concerns then let them be known. No need to stick a bung in it.
Moderation can only be effective with effective communication between us all.
As for adding me to your "friends"..I'm sure you've taken many risks in life I've no plans to change my name to GONE.
Yes..I'll enquire about the coffee table book Tiger. I'd be interested in knowing if and when it will be published too. So I can reserve my copy I'll let you know Mr animaTOR

Oh Tiger..sighhhhh..tsk
Yes there is a place for it and I personally don't appreciate it next to my files either. I've brought your concerns to the attention of eSnips admin.
I'm really sorry and sincerely hope it gets sorted quickly, as much as you do.
Thanks for the link to your printscreen. I passed it on.

just a quick thought now ya mentioned about the fav list top animators etc, if you go to the karaoke section and click the top performers there they aint in any real order, the list was originally by who had the most favourites later changed to friends .. bit competative if ya ask me but thats how it was...its now not in any real order...theres people with only a couple of dozen friends in that list above others with well over a hundred...the point i am making is perhaps your section is the same.

Thanks Genise
Yes I think you're right. Most of the community top lists seem to be ordered in a similar fashion. I agree it does seem to be a bit competitive doesn't it? I have asked questions about how people get to the top of the lists. I'd be interested to know too.
I think Tiger..You need to sell yourself more.
Your animations are all really great and I know once you let people know where to find you you'll see a difference in your viewing figures..If you're really lucky..you might even get more "friends"
Try leaving links on people's profiles inviting them to view your files.
Go through other people's files(doesn't have to be animation)and leave a comment here and there and they'll maybe come over to yours and do the same for you. And when others view their files they might click on your name to see what you have in your folders. Before you know it you'll be getting the recognition you deserve.
Underneath your table in your profile you could add a window and place a different animation every week or so to keep people's interest.Just an idea

oh def agreed it comes down to self promotion really...being featured now and again does help get your work or music out there but for the main you only get what you put in, like anything in life, why not visit your friends leave a link wish them a great weekend etc etc if ya have the time it will always pay dividends...its just a shame people tag things incorrectly but then again thats not always their fault every catogery is so vast...i dont know much about animation but just a quick example within the music community...originals and covers are all bundled together .. if i wanted to sub one of my originals i would still have to sub it karaoke really to get a fair amount of listeners when its not actually karaoke something which is my own composition...
you also have to look at the flip side...if more and more catagories are added perhaps in the long run so will your market because things will be spread around that much more....
