Thanks for letting me know. When browsing through photos, so often people don't mention anywhere, if they are personally taken photos or something they took from the net or a friend or whatever.
It's interesting to look at all the images you know that the person has taken..especially if they are in your interest range or are just plain nice shots!
Take care and keep posting!!

Hi Dale i understand .
As for me i'm used to give a minimum description of what i'm doing .
Some of the things i do can be pretty "technical" so giving info about used gear , number of shots and exposure length might be helpfull for others .
This is aspecially the case in my folder "the heavens" .
Most shots were taken with with telescope or multiple frames were used to improve the signal to noise ratio .

The scope itself is a little scope that is desinged to observe the sun .
The heart of this scope is a filter system .
On the objective there is a first coating which blocks unwanted light (UV , IR)
A secondary filter system in the scope itself only passes a very narrow bandwith of light .
The bandpass is tuned on 656nm and the bandwith is 1.0Å .
Think of it as a redfilter taken to the extreme .
What you see through the scope (with eyepiece or camera) is ionized hydrogen (H-alpha).
With a regular solar filter you wont see these features because the H-alpha light is easely overwhelmed in terms of brightness .

Well... those are some totally awesome shots. I'd like to see the telescope setup sometime, if you can get a pic of it. I'm certain there are other users here who'd love to see "how it's done".
Keep up the awesome photography.

All you need to do is start a photo folder, tag it photography and start posting your original works.
Welcome to esnips!

Oh i forgot to mention that i used two avi's for that photo of the sun .
i used a monochrome firewire camera to shoot the footage then i processed these avis in a program called registax .
I did this twice because i used different exposure for each avi .
Color adding and finishing was done in Photoshop .
i just made a little compilation of those two avis and up'ed it to my folder "my videos"

See? Now explanations of a shot are so informative! I know it's tedious, but when you do such special shots like that, and regardless if you've worked them with other programs, that's part of photography. If you'd make comments in your folder description... or click the "make your first post" link and tell folks a bit about how you take certain images and work them, there's a lot of folks here who'd love to give some of the methods a try, themselves.... should they happen to have the programs, etc.
Thanks for the explanation.. even though some of it's over my head.
Photoshopping an image is still part of original photography. YOU took the images and worked some kind of magic on them.. they're still your work. And still a treat to look at.
