A beloved painter passed away last night after an illness- Raffie Lavie.
At the age of 70, still sharp (and having taken on the position of classical music critic in a weekly paper, as well) and working...

His light handed touch and playful "scribbling" look belied the emotional content of his paintings, and the sometimes political and social criticism.

What I loved about his paintings, is something that perhaps only an older artist can do...effortless, and completely loyal to his own form of expression.
