I would like to know just how many ACTIVE members there are on old eSnips, and how its fluctuated over the last say 36 months.

I wouldn't give the time-of-day to this piss-poor service. One would assume it would be a free service to its loyal membership. Like the little blurb at the bottom of the forum index, bragging how many people were on once, and who's on now...

Perhaps you are right Dale, you gotta pay the blushing model to show us those intimate parts. LOL. ...what does that make her????

Tiger,
In Your search bar put Alexa esnips and this will bring up a graph of how esnips is doing over the full period it has been active. Makes you wonder.

With a traffic rank of 477 Esnips performs a bit better than Squidoo! And Squidoo is still recovering from the huge slap Google gave them in 2007. I kind of remember seeing Esnips in the Alexa Top 200 once. Maybe Esnips got a little "slap" from the big G, too!
Still, all of my files and pages I have on Esnips usually rank very high in Google. The situation can't be that bad. With such a high ranking, Esnips can be seen as an authority site and should be treated this way.
But they really need to take more care regarding the technical side of things. Plus I "demand" weekly rotation of the featured files! (yeah, right. Who am I to demand something, eh?!)

"...I have read your manuscript with boundless delight. If we were to publish your paper, it would be impossible for us to publish any work of lower standard. And as it is unthinkable that in the next 1000 years we shall see its equal, we are, to our regret, compelled to return your divine composition...".

Terry,

Thank you! That was the info I need. Perhaps two people clapping with one hand can make a sound. High 5!

I will try the widget and post it on my profile. I want to see if it updates over time. Check it out:

Yupper. When sites have problems, which has seemed to be like a plague, with our ole esnips, traffic will decline.

Just outta morbid curiosity, I think I'll email a couple staff with the link and see if they wish to move it forward to the higher up mucky mucks.... aka... the owner.

It's all a sad shame, especially to those of us who've been here for a real long time. Things were near perfect in the beginning. Then too many changes, staff layoffs, Audible Magic.... took and seem to continue taking their toll.

Well, I'll keep hangin on, passing mine and your thoughts to the staff, in hopes that word gets to "big daddy" at the top. I do wonder if he/she really cares? He sure is the silent type.

Maybe I'll get an email from him now... heh heh. "Your fired". Then I'll respond back.. ya can't fire me, I ain't even paid! At Least pay me once, then fire me."

Ya gotta admit... a site that makes ( or has made $10 - $50 million.. the owner would give more of a chit.

And based in California to boot. How bout that? All this time I thought it was based in Israel, since I have talked with staff who actually live there.

Learn something every day.

Thank you very much for the second link, Terry! The huge decrease in traffic occured (or rather: began!) at the same timeframe Google began to "slap" some of the other authority sites. I think there is a 90 % chance that this drop in traffic has nothing to do at all with any of the actions Esnips had undertaken in the last year, but rather it is because Google crawls Esnips much less frequently.
(oops, I posted this while logged into my other account...time to transform into Flux again!).

PS: If you think they are gonna stop using Audible Magic sometime soon, forget it, it's not going to happen. They would rather start paying the moderators before they would even think about turning off A.M.

Thanks Terry. Totally tubular dude, you really know how to surf!!!! Cowabunga Man!.. may your camel spit rubies.

Wow. To be honest: IF I had $10 - $50 M, I'd be too busy on my yacht in the Caribbean to bother with this site's problems. ...but I suppose losing that value might affect me. ...depends on whether my dreams had been fulfilled, or perhaps on a life support system, then I wouldn't care what happens either. Karen H-H and Ian Paul keep the barbarians (like me) at the gate... and you to answer all the tough questions, and Dale to nip at their heels. For all its dysfunction, eSnips as a community seems to have its highmarks. Fidelis!

First, I nip at nobody's heels. But it can be arranged...heh heh. Not really. I guess I make a mistake at the beginning of my so-called "career" here, and lost all my fans, get hated to the max by a few. But, alas.... it's all in a day's non-pay.

I mentioned the first site, to staff and liked to gotten my head bit off. So, according to some other sites, we still rank up there as #16 on their listings. Which ain't nothing to sneeze at. If I happen to remember, before the staff bite my head off again, I'll post the names of the sites they threw at me. ( I touched a nerve, I guess. I may not be a mod much longer, but I suppose that's OK. I've spent my time in Hell already, so it's open for others from the various forums/communities.

So, all in all, I'm not quite certain as to what's trying to be proved, by this thread. Are ya all trying to convince everyone or just yourselves, to leave? Now.. that's just my own curiosity and NOT a suggestion, so let's not get all frisky faced, OK?

Anyway, I'm sticking around until the end, if it ever comes. I suspect many of you will also. Besides... I store files and photos on several other sites already. No large issue for me, no matter how many "bugs" bug certain folks, who are very verbal about it.

Hi Tiger,
Sorry you are having problems with your site, considering that particular infection was supposed to be fixed. Did you try using opera browser to delete the infection.

Regards Terry.
