Ever since joining esnips back in 2007, we have sent requests up to esnips for a Power Point Community and we know of other members who have also requested this community.

Power Points or Slide shows on the Internet with sites such Slideshare have a huge memberships with Power Points Worldwide being added at a rate of 5 to 6 every minute of the day. They have monthly contests for the best Slideshow in certain categories that members can vote on and up to over a 1000 members contribute their shows to try to win these prizes.
If esnips want to improve their membership then a Power Point Community would be the way to go.

At this time there is no community to place Power Points into.

They are Slideshows, not Photography, some are humorous but do not belong in the Humor community.

Most contain songs or music, but do not belong in these communities.
In other words Power Points do not have their own community and it would be great if they did.

Are any other members up here who do make Powerpoints interested in this, if so please keep requesting Powerpoints in Suggest a New Community, and who knows, maybe one day we will get one.

Yes it would be wonderful to have a Power Point Community.
I have been trying to learn how to make Power Points for some time now and it will be good to be able to find someone in that community who can lead me through it step by step.

It will also make finding the slideshows that much easier by having them all in one community.

Here's a follow up question on the issue, if we do get enough votes in favor of a PP community is there anyone interested in moderating it?

We probably wouldn't move forward in setting it up without a moderator already in place.

If a Volunteer is required in order to get the community up and running then we will volunteer for the position of Moderator, providing we are not expected to spend more than 2 hours per day at esnips as we do have other commitments elsewhere.

(and just to clarify for everyone, there are no specific time requirements requested of moderators)

I'm going to write post on the eSnips blog tomorrow promoting the poll, and after the dust settles from that, I'll take the issue to management and see what we can get done from there.

Just a further point about Power Point Slide shows.
It was pointed out to us by a member at esnips, that people are wary of Power Points because they may contain Viruses.

Viruses are a major problem everywhere, and it is possible to add viruses to images, mp3's, or virtually any uploadable or downloadable files, in particular .exe files or zip Files.
I am pretty certain that esnips would in fact scan all uploads for viruses and delete any that contained virus strings.

If you are a Powerpoint maker, then I am sure you will have noticed that before any Power Point can be loaded it is checked by your internal anti virus program. This also applies to a Power Point Viewer.
You will also note that whenever you click on a file at esnips it will be loaded into a viewer at esnips, and I am sure it would have been screened before it was allowed to load.

Providing you have a good anti virus program on your computer and providing it is kept up to date, you will not have any problems with Power Points.

To quote another site with over 30 Million uploads of Power Points, "we have never found a virus in any Power Point Slide show."

Can I just point out here the poll is very important to this project so vote vote vote and get all the people that power point to vote it is imperative you boost the vote .

Yes, I would like to see a PPcommunity here...so many people use this program...their work is worth to have a section here on esnips!...what is the problem? come on, just make a PPS community!!
