I found your designs interesting as a collection: they are varied and quite different; as if they came from different artists. This is a good thing and shows diversity and multiple styles.

However, they are extremely generic and do not stand out as anything other than standard commercial graphics... clip-art at worst. This could also be due to the way they are displayed here. eg:- A Jamaican background woud suit the graphic more than white space. All dark for the black and white, etc.

I have a reoccuring problem here at eSnips. Not whining mind you (you get what you pay for) ...just observing and apathetic whether it gets fixed or not:

I combine Graphic Design with Animation and so many of my animations are of different dimensions than the standard rectangle that this site uses. When my vertical or wide-angle videos are displayed, they are distorted beyond what was the intended look. There must be some way to convert and resize and not distort... there's just gotta be a way in the code.

I also have a problem with animations that are intended to loop.. like a small 60 frame movie of a spinning stack of cards. One looses the effect without there being at least 3 permutations... guess Ill just have to triple the size on this end.. and also redo all the animations with blank white space just so they'll look good here .... lol... NOT

...and one other thing All you eSnip Photographers..
The Animation "community" is just as ..... (fill in the blank) as you guys here if not worse.

Where are all the Photographers? I joined the Community (and several others) and yet on my homepage there is not one member listed in several of the communities I've joined.. including Photography. And All the stuff I uploaded with the photograph tag never got listed here...

I'd absolutely tag animated GIF as one sub-catagory of Animation.

But even so...
I would imagine it would be impossible to filter original stuff being posted, as opposed to some anglo-illitetate indonesian pre-teenager just posting everything he ever found on the web and getting a million hits from his relatives....

Other artists and I have started spending more time on other sites (I'll do eSnips the coutesy of NOT advertising/linking them here ..

because of the redundant tags and the weird messages and the spam...grrrr

One such site uses a drop down menu for each upload, so although the tags are limited, they are better because they work real well. It would require the tag maker to be informed of the different catagoies within each genre of possibe upload... Audio, Photographs, Video/Movies, & CGI... which itself would be broken into Animation, 3D Models, Still Renders... There would then be the Animation sub menus for GIF, 2D/Anime/Cartoon, 3D/(subdivided by software program used), VR, AE...

no easy task for the eSnip developers who may not know all the possible qwerx.

Moderators within the communities, and the ability to remove.. or just move the lukers out and clearing that particular tag from their uploads would help... Even a communal vote among the "featured" artist would give some useful input.

As for me and my specialty: C4D, there are sites dedicated and specific that are better from my point of view. This place is a good way to generate more web hits on Yahoo and Google... Just Google my name, I'm virtually famous, try yours. I don't expect to see any big change for what I'm paying for 5GB of web space. Hanving said that, I also have made some valuable connections with other eSnip artists who are honest in their critique ("Blender head" comes to mind) and who keep me on my toes.

The wide range of graphic art available here is also ... cheaper than a coffee table book.... BTW, where's that eSnips Coffee Table Book???? I want to reserve some copies.

I wish there was a filter to keep JPGs from showing up as "favorites" in the animation community. There isn't a single animation on the list... grrr.

Among the most popular animators, are people without a single animation on their site... it makes this tag redundant. fbakht44 is a case in point. I'm more miffed at this than the infernal "button" issue... but I ain't no millionaire rock star being pirated either. No, I think that obviously there is no control on what people add as tags here, and that I'm way too elitist to consider fbakht44 as having an equal claim to the tag as me... Actually the very fact that he's using the Animation tag (as others are I'm sure) annoys the ! out of me.

...my free cool web storage space is becoming a dump... the riff-raff have USED freedom in such a degenerate way that the whole "community" is dead Sua Sponte. and ya really do get what you pay for shipmates..

That being said, the Graphic Design community, I'm certain due to the amont of keys it takes to type and install, seems a much more homogeneous group, and its a pleasure to go through it because there aren't any http://www.esnips.com/user/fbakht44 ...to gunk it up.... oh wait ...he's there too!!! There is also a possibility that their command of English is way off too with the mistagging issue. Not to mention the world-wide use by mindless teenagers and people who posted and split and forgot they even have a bunch of stuff they "left" here.... This is NOT the best environment for specialized fields.. Like photographers or engineers... or animators.

My tirade was originally set off by this topic cuz it had nothing to do with animation. Its forum spam...Like Fergie and his download button petition

I never visited a forum till eSnips admin sent me here cuz I was whining that there were way too many non animations/animators in this community and the hyperlink/tag was redundant... this thread is an example. Am I pouring salt on it by concentrating my text here instead of a thread of my latest animation??? Of course. This is exactly what I was talking about and the hits on this link are illustrating the problem...GOOD! And all my latest stuff has been of an adult nature.. so I don't post it here. That is not to say that I'm defending my patron's business against the petition... Every man for himself.

As far as freedom of thought and speech on this thread: Guy, you rock on! ..And are correct on all points, I am unabashidly "childish" in a whole lot of ways!... and an athiest zealot too, alas... that's me. 1) His IS an attack, albeit a subtle one. Since I am an atheist I can tell just by the guy not using his own name, but flying a blatantly evangelical moniker, that he puts me in the same club as satan; he must by the very definition of him being a christian. ..and he's not even posting an animation or a critique here, just evangelizing.... grrrrrrrrr. Had he posted the petition, without flat out insulting me with his moniker (and what I know it stands for now and throughout history) I would have just blown it off. What if my moniker was simply, Nazis are nice now, or Klansman lover, or Jihadist sympathizer, or Hamas loves you.. it would insult all those not on that team would it not? THAT IS an attack! ... see? simple. Of course he didn't attack you, so you might not see it/felt it.

2) Buddhism is NOT a religion. Its a philosophy that instructs devotion as the path to enlightenment, but there is no god concept. Love comes from within..not from some god that doesn't exist. It is the plain ignorance of non buddhists that they lump it in with religion, instead of Humanism, or Existentialism, Stoicism..ETCism. I guess its because Buddhists are probably the nicest people on the earth and religions assume they are in the same group! Its as uneducated as a christian assuming a Jew is nothing more than an unredeemed pre-christian, and a moslem a heretic for not accepting Jesus as a god... Total ignorance of the other's premise. In fact, buddhism is so NOT religious, that one of the quite well known primary tenets of a particular school is: "If you meet Buddha on the road, kill him." ... which brings me to Jesus... LOL

3) christians (and others) are particularly nasty since it is an underlying requirement for them to EVANGELIZE... mostly those sects are associated with and broken away from the papacy. Its not such a big deal with the Eastern Orthodox, Nestorian, Chaldean, and other Pre- roman catholic sects. They mostly converted rulers, who then demanded their subjects convert.. (lovely!) RCs and most, not all of their kin nowadays go for the individuals... collecting souls, and all based on fairy tales and instructions from the pulpit.

So here's the point: I could have just ignored him like so many people that don't want to stir up trouble (very UN-jesus like ...LOL) and he would go on forever without anyone one telling him what a dipstick he is.... and especially, why. Although, it is perhaps doubtful that the jerk ever made it back to this thread. It may well be said that Truth untold is as bad as a lie. FACT: All religions, every one of them, are predispositioned and bigoted. Not standing up against a bigot of any color is a symtom of weakness or apathy.
