Of course all this is to win the heart of a lovely female bird, whom all tour the bowers to see which is the best , like the equivalent of a car show... As Lonnie has mentioned the males spend a great deal of time making these structures. They live on the edges of the rainforests in southern Queensland and are quite comfortable with being around people.
