Uh Ben no disrespect intended but I do mind if everyone else made under or on the 15 minute time limit. Why should you be allotted an extra 20 seconds. 2 or 3 seconds is acceptable to me but not 20 seconds. If they let you have your 20 seconds I won't complain right now I am just expressing my opinion as a participant. Please do not take offense.

Why don't you just pitch the file up just a little bit, I guess somewhere between 1% and 2% should get you pretty close to the 15 minute limit... just a suggestion...

Actually I think this is a good question. When does it stop being a copy and become your own original work. Take a look at the charts.... A lot of the tracks, are actually quite old. They have taken i.e. an 80's hit, reworked it, updated the sound, changed some pieces, and added completely new vocal/rap (that has nothing to do with the original), and is released as a new original to the masses. The old guys like myself, actually remembers the actual hit, and is able to notice this fact. But the youngsters, they don't have a clue in most cases, that it's an old recording surfacing again. Also, just changing a few bits and pieces, adding some other layers of sound and drums, are often called remixes. The remix is your own original work, but based on another original work. This is very difficult. I guess there have been made and still are some legal issues concerning this matter. Usually it all ends in simply one thing..... money! I won't go into the politics, this is nor the time or the place. Original track in this matter (the spin off contest) is a mix done by yourself! If you where best friends with Danny Tenaglia, you could go to him and say, hey, please make a dj mix, 15 minutes High class house music. And then upload it, and enter the contest under your own name, just as if it was yourself who mixed it...That mix would most definitely not be your own original work....
