Search Issues

For the life of me I did not see a thread for help or questions. So I'm going with the next best thing. Whenever I search for anything it won't let me go to the next page available. EX: Justin Timberlake will show 12930 files available, but whenever i try to go to the next page to see the rest of the results it just keeps me on that first page. And that's with everything. Audio, Pictures, Files, etc. Perhaps theres a bug that no one has picked up yet? I tried with both up to date Firefox and Explorer. BTW: If there is a help forum and I am a total idiot for not seeing it, I apologize.

Me 2! I also find that this new layout when u search for something is not helpfull. I guess there is no way 2 get back 2 the old ways? It's so difficult 2 find something on esnips now. (please excuse my english beacause that is not my native language)

I am having the same issues Have sent question to Esnips like 2 weeks ago but no answer. Please tell me what is going on. And I don't like how the search results comes back. It's hard to really see whats in it. Before you can see every thing at a glance if you want to see a specific file type the other files are totally unnecessary information that is taking up most of the page. Please at least let us click or open a new tab so we can see just that file type in details like before. Thank you.

Same problem here. I don't like the new layout, either. Too difficult to navigate. Five results per page?? It would take forever to find what I'm looking for, even if I could go on to the next page.

yeah, it's like eSNIPS no longer cares about it's members anymore. You'd think they would have learned to ASK the members the next time they make a horrific change. Especially considering that each time they change the site (download button, etc.), they lose millions of daily visitors.

I don't know if you guys have received an email from esnips recently but I did and it contained links to the new esnips blog. In case you didn't get one, I am sorry to tell you that the chance of returning to the clear and popular way of displaying "search" results is almost zero because esnips is actually proud of the new way and see it as an improvement. This subject has been covered in other areas of the forum and everyone is complaining about how confusing and useless it is but esnips see it as a triumph. And lets face it it's their company not ours, so for the time being we just have to live without a usable search. Cheers Roy

Well, I for a change, have no complaints about the new search 'LAYOUT'... but yes, there definitely is a big problem whenever I have to go the next page.... There just doesn't seem to be a way to go to the next page, although the page numbers have been clearly listed under each category...I have been able to go to the next page just once so far.... it would be really great if the page flipping problem could somehow be resolved.....

I agree that the new layout is very pretty ... but sadly I don't think it's very useful. I am one of those old fashioned people that believe the purpose of a search ... is to find something. :lol: Esnips are actually promoting the fact that now ALL catagories are sharing the same page. To me that is NOT a plus point. I prefer a "dedicated search". By that, I mean if I want to find an audio file of a particular song, I woulld like to see a list of audio files that are avaliable at esnips. AND instead of a bunch of identical icons offering virtually no information I would like esnips to revert to the previous version, which clearly displayed important information that helped us decide whether a file was worth listening to or not. At the moment you could waste hours listening to unsuitable files. I don't bother searching anymore but hope to again one day IF we get a return to the system that worked [ it even allowed access to the pages beyond Page 1 ] Cheers Roy

Every search I do, leaves me stuck on page 2! It's annoying as all heck. I can't figure out how they have the urls set up in order to manually change the url so it forces the page to advance, otherwise I would do it. Anyway... According to the 2nd post here, this issue was forwarded to an admin back in March! We are now into June, and the problem still exists! Is this problem still around because they can't figure out their own coding in order to fix it, or because they are trying to keep us from searching, and thus save on Bandwidth? Just in case anyone asks... Yes, I have cleared my cache, and checked all firewall (and browser) settings. There's nothing going on there. I use Mozilla for my browser; Version 3.0.10.

esnips are aware of the problem and were fixing it unfortunatlly the recent onslaught of spamming has made them reprioritize there workload

Thank you kindly for replying and explaining things. It is very much appreciated. :D I have a feeling that it we may start seeing the Captcha System come into play on eSnips. Though it can be a pain, it does work to keep spamming down. Thanks again.
